Gordon Campbell’s Parting Shot

Later this morning, Gordon Campbell is expected to meet with reporters to elaborate on his resignation. I hope some of them pursue this statement in his resignation address:

“I want to thank the exceptional workers of British Columbia’s public service who continue to lead Canada in so many different ways.”

Personally, I feel the Liberal party has been an abject disaster for public service workers in BC for this whole decade. Tearing up contracts, violating charter rights, contracting out and privatizing work, legislating wage rollbacks, enacting essential service legislation are all elements of hard core worker bashing.

For the premier to explicitly thank and commend public servants is galling. But then maybe he’s only referring to his spin team in the bloated Public Affairs Bureau.

  1. Yup, just like the Toronto Mayorial race, a grass roots person (Rob Ford) was elected (not a politician at all), and he won by a landslide. The people are fed up.

Campbell is still spinning, he said he will still be in charge until they get a new leader, so in reality his party is still paralized.

its was not just about him, every one of the MLAs voted for the HST, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM.

do not let them fool you BC, these Liberals will try and hold on to power at all costs, and Campbell is “still around”
